With its 17th edition of Surf and Sweat on Sunday, the Nanyang Technological University Sports Club has attained a new record attendance of over 1300 participants at its Siloso beach venue.

The event that aimed to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle to youths did just that yesterday with a wide array of competitions such as beach football, beach volleyball and many more.

Yet, the event was not just focussed on sporting excitement as it also offered entertainment in the form of stage shows and live performances.

“The event was very well organised” said Noelle Tan, participant at Surf N Sweat 2012. “Everyone has a chance to participate and no one will be neglected” added the Republic Polytechnic Student.

But success was not easily attained said Chairperson of the organising committee, Russell Chua. “We were very worried about rain” said Mr Chua, making reference to the heavy downpour in the morning.

However, he thanked his team for their hard work on creating a good atmosphere for the participants despite the troubles created by the weather.

When asked bout next year’s event, he said, “What I can promise you is a day of fun and excitement at Siloso beach as always.”
