The 4th edition of Past vs Present Sports Carnival by Hwa Chong Alumni Association Youth Chapter was held on 10 September at Hwa Chong Institution. Alumni and current students gathered for a day of fun and games before attending the annual Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration in the night.
A record number of 350 old boys and girls participated in this event. Participants chose to take part in any of the seven games – Ultimate Frisbee, Floorball, Captain’s Ball, Street Soccer, Volleyball , Basketball and Badminton.
The event seeks to be a gathering for alumni members to catch up with one another through sports and games. Alumni from different batches formed teams to compete against one another.
“This is a wonderful initiative by the Youth Chapter and it is honestly quite tiring to compete against the younger members of the Hwa Chong Family! Nonetheless, it is great to have a day of fun and sweat in school again after so many years,” quipped Davin Boo of Hwa Chong’1987.
Chang Zi Qian, President of Hwa Chong Alumni Youth Chapter added, “Sports brings people together. This event reignited the participants about their sporting lives in Hwa Chong and it lets everyone celebrate the team work, friendship and memories obtained through sports”.
