Toa Payoh - It was a night of jaw-dropping action at the finals of the 2nd Annual Botak Jones Massive Eating Competition held at its Toa Payoh outlet. After weeks of preliminary rounds at different Botak Jones’ outlets aroundSingapore, 48 contenders were selected for the finale. They included staff of Botak Jones, professional athletes from Major League Eating Asia (MLE Asia) as well as customers and members of the public.
The rule of the game was straight-forward – participants had to down Botak Jones’ Massive Burger in the fastest time to win. A Botak Jones Massive Burger consists of – a 200g beef patty, four rashes of streaky bacon, four slices of cheddar cheese, two sunny-side-up eggs, lettuce, onions and tomatoes, all sandwiched in a sesame seed bun.
Mr Jesse Poh Soo Heng aka “Foodie” finished first with a time of 64 seconds in the Professional Men’s Categorysmashing last year’s record of 72 seconds. Last year’s title holder Mr Ng Chin Sheng had to settle for second placewith a new personal best of 86 seconds.
Ms Koh Yeow Thien aka “Makan Sedap” was crowned female champion of the Professional Women’s category, with a time of 2 minutes 17 seconds. She was also champion of the CP Biggest Eater Contest 2010, where she downed 70 shrimp wontons in eight minutes.
