Singapore’s Yao Lei and Shinta Mulia Sari have done the Republic proud by beating their Chinese Taipei opponents Cheng Wen Hsing and Chien Yu Chin 11-21, 21-18, 21-19. After a dismal first set, the Singaporean pair looked to be out of contention against a visibly confident Chinese Taipei duo. However, they managed to dig deep and found their range as they began a brilliant fight back against their opponents. At match point, their nerves were visible as they squandered match points with unforced errors. However, their mental strength prevailed in the end as they completed a 11-21, 21-18, 21-19 victory to reach the finals of the Li-Ning Singapore Open 2010.
